This is Mel McEvoy’s first collection. His poems sharply reflect the rural Ireland of the 1950s shown through the heartbreaking lives of his parents. It also explores the hardships of their lives as immigrants in Liverpool in teh 60s and 70s. His poems achieve a rare feat: they are narratives of feeling.
