Three women poets remember the routes through which their ancestors travelled, celebrating the people and the places which made them. All three have different stories to tell: the harsh, sometimes comic life of rural North Yorkshire; the migrations from Ireland, Wales, and the Ironopolis of Middlesbrough in the 19th Century. The stories are culled from memory, assembled from snippets passed down through the generations and told in distinctly different voices and tones, so that the ways of telling become pleasurable as the lives and characters taking part in the drama.
